Silvia Estrada-Flores has over fifteen years experience in the investigation of operational and design aspects of refrigeration systems.

Silvia is an Australian representative of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR). She is a member of the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH), the Logistics Association of Australia (LAA) and the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia (APESMA).

  • Project management of R&D portfolios in the areas of cold chain distribution and value chains for food and pharmaceutical products.

  • Development of R &D projects, with emphasis in innovative distribution systems and processes for foods and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products.
  • Coordination of research activities in multidisciplinary teams of researchers and technical officers.

  • Part of a project team undertaking R&D in domestic refrigerators.
  • Specialist in food freshness and quality, and design parameters (heat and mass transfer) in domestic refrigerators.

Management of a team dedicated to service the Mexican food industry. Some of our projects included:

  • Food labelling projects for the fresh produce, bakery, and canning industries in Mexico.
  • Development of training curricula and course materials related to Good Manufacturing Practices, safe handling of fresh produce and HACCP, for processing companies and for a large Mexican food restaurant chain.
